Bhubaneshwar: Just six months after B B Mohanty, a DG rank IPS officer from Orissa was charged of helping his rape convict son Biti jump parole, Orrisa Police’s reputation has hit another low.
An IPS officer being accused of helping bank robbers from Bihar. A report of Orissa police says Inspector General Sanjeev Marik and six members of the gang allegedly met at his house to plan the escape of 11 others lodged in Bhadrak jail.

"I have received the report and the DG is enquiring into the matter and he will submit the report within seven days," says Orissa Home Secretary Tarun Kanti Mishra.
The gang was allegedly involved in several cases of bank robbery in the state. They are accused of looting Rs 23 lakh from the LIC office in Bhadrak.
Two LIC employees were killed in the robbery that took place on February 23, 2007.
Marik's name cropped up during interrogation of the six gang members arrested when they were trying to leave Orissa.
The IG has since then denied the charges while Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has promised strict action. "After the enquiry, if anyone found guilty proper action will be taken," he said.
