How to get your gun to fly with you?

New Delhi: What is the right way to get your gun to fly with you? It's a lengthy and cumbersome procedure.

First, it can only be carried in check-in baggage. Carrying it in hand baggage can lay you open to a hijack charge.

You need to carry your arms license papers with you.

The gun has to be declared at the X-ray checkpoint and cannot be loaded. Two Arms Declaration Forms have to be filled in triplicate. The person who owns the gun gets a copy and the airlines and pilot get one each.

The baggage is then taken away and placed in a special location.

Taking a gun out of the country becomes even more complicated since every country has its own gun laws, so the country to which one is flying to also needs to be informed.

In Nusli Wadia's case, none of the above procedures were followed.
