New Delhi: Hindus across the country are celebrating Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama on Tuesday.
The day also marks the end of the nine-day Vasanthothsavam, or festival of Spring, that began with Ugadi.
Many people fast to mark the occasion, while others chant mantras and offer flowers and fruits in honour of Rama.
Public gatherings or satsangs are organised to commemorate the occasion in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and Ram Leelas are organised in different parts of the country.
