BEIJING, Aug 15, 2008 (AFP) Janos Baranyai of Hungary is recovering well after dislocating his elbow at the Beijing Olympics weightlifting competition and should be able to resume his career, the International Weightlifting Federation chief said on Friday.
The 24 year-old tore his right elbow joint while making a snatch attempt at 148kg in the 77kg division contest on Wednesday, sparking fears that he would not be able to lift again.
"There is no fracture, just dislocation of two bones," IWF chief Tamas Ajan told a news conference.
He said Baranyai was expected to leave the hospital and return to the athletes' village, "and we hope that in three to four months he can continue to lift weights."
