Paper flower leis (Hawaiian word for garlands) and bright tropical printed shirts spread around the city as participants in an annual car rally went hunting for the items on their list. Organised by the Moms Club of Lady Andal Venkatasubba Rao School, the event is one of the many fundraisers they conduct throughout the year.
Volvo and Artemis Cars sponsored the treasure hunt with a Hawaiian theme. Oryza Day Spa and Courtyard by Marriott also sponsored the prizes for the winners.
The participants went around the city gathering items like hibiscus flowers, coconut shells, hula hoops and sunblock, apart from taking photos of certain items of the 50 clues they had to figure out. They decked up their cars with theme decorations and dressed appropriately as they vied for the best dressed prize among others.
Shakthi, one of the organisers, said that the proceeds would go to the various charitable instituitions under the Madras Seva Sadan Trust. “We wanted this to be something the entire family enjoys. Close to 500 people are here,” she said.
Tambola and other interactive activities were also conducted.
