Husain moves on to paint the world

London: Veteran Artist M F Husain is in London, far away from home India, in a self imposed exile. When asked about his art being misunderstood, he says that one needs to grow up and move on.

Husain says, “Sometimes, if children in the house break things, it doesn't mean they should be thrown out of the house. If you hold on to little things, you will never be able to grow."

This may well be artist M F Husain's most emotional outburst on his forced exile. In the past year and a half, there have been a string of protests and cases filed against him for having hurt certain religious sentiments through his paintings.

But after having apologised to that, Husain prefers to put all that behind him and move on.

The latest public event he was seen was in a charity auction held in London last week where Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan shared the canvas. The painting went down for a little more than Rs 1.2 crore.

And as India heads towards its 60th year of independence, here is what Husain has to say:

"We have built a composite culture, unique all over the world, people of the West are waking up to it now."
