New Delhi: The first international Indian art fair kicks off in the capital this weekend with about 400 works on display but none of them by MF Husain. His work has been banned from the fair.
Husain's works on certain Hindu Gods have caught the ire of right wing activists for the past 2 and half years, the trigger caused by his work, Bharatmata, in 2006. It has now come to a point that none of his works shown across the country are away from protests and attacks.
However, the summit is been given infrastructural support by the Ministry of Culture. But the organisers of the summit say they've had no role in the selection of the art works as that call is taken by participating galleries.
The summit will host a total of 35 participating galleries, with around 400 works on display.
