Hyderabad: People from the Northeast have been fleeing Hyderabad too, scared by rumours of retaliatory attacks following the Assam violence. Officials have confirmed that 45 per cent of nearly 1,700 people from the Northeast have left from Cyberabad.
While the government has appealed for calm, top police officials have been holding meetings to assess the situation and build confidence among the people.
Security has also been tightened in areas where the Northeast community is concentrated.
