Hyderabad blast victim trapped in govt apathy

Hyderabad: Even as investigation in the Hyderabad blasts is progressing, victims of the twin blasts continue to suffer government apathy.

“Four members of my family are missing. I called them at 7:30 pm, they said they were in the Lumbini park,” says a relative of the blast victim, Ayesha Sultana.

On the fateful night of the blasts, Ayesha learnt that she had lost four family members - her brother, his wife and their two children.

But the cheques, worth Rs 20 lakh, that Ayesha received as compensation from the government cannot be encashed because they are in the names of her deceased family members.

When she contacted those concerned, no answer was forthcoming.

“They said get the cheques and take it in the names of Ayesha,” said Ayesha.

When CNN-IBN contacted Government officials, they refused to comment on the issue. Ayesha is now in a fix. Her brother was the sole earning member of the family. And for her, the cheques are merely pieces of paper.
