Hyderabad: Demolitions for metro from October 1

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will take up the demolition of properties coming under the Hyderabad Metro Rail project from the first week of October. The government directed the GHMC to speed up the pending demolition of structures after passing the award and compensations to the affected house owners. The GHMC has identified as many as 1,188 structures in the three proposed corridors for which 349 awards have been passed. Nearly, 773 properties have yet to be acquired by the corporation.

The GHMC officials told Express that on the corridor- I, from Miyapur to L B Nagar which is about 28.27 km, the corporation has identified about 316 properties for which 98 awards have been passed and the affected land has to be taken over, the remaining 162 will be demolished.

The corridor-2, from Jubilee bus station to Falaknuma having 14.78 km stretch, GHMC has identified 410 properties.
