New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Hyderabad, a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist's son was found dead three days after he went missing.
The body of the 11-year-old boy was found in a drain on Monday morning.
11-year-old Pranav Chalavadi had left home on Friday afternoon to play with his friends. He never returned. His partially decomposed body was found in this drain on Monday morning.
"We were tracking the boy since the last three days since the missing complaint was lodged. And considering the sensitive nature of the case, our investigation was much under wraps," said AK Khan, Police Commissioner, Hyderabad.
Pranav's father, V Ram Mohan, a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad had received an anonymous call on the day his son went missing, but the call got cut abruptly,k leaving no further details.
The police are following up on this lead. They have registered a case of murder against unidentified people.
"The motive is still not clear. We have interrogated several people but not ruling out anything though ransom seems improbable as they are a middle class family," said AK Khan.
A post mortem has been conducted on Pranav's body and police sources say the boy seems to have been smothered to death before being thrown in the drain. His partially decomposed body also pointing to the fact that death did occur almost 48 hours before it was found in a drain on Monday morning. While the family mourns the death of their young son, they hope the police will find the perpetrators behind their son's gruesome murder.
