New Delhi: Somdev Devvarman, India's No. 1 singles' player, has told CNN-IBN that he is fit and ready to play for India at the London Olympics next month. The 27-year-old has has not played competitive tennis almost from the start of the 2012 season due to a shoulder injury and so there had been speculation over his preparedness for Olympics, but he has revealed that he is available for selection.

"I am available to play at the Olympics [and] told AITA that I can play singles and doubles at the Olympics," Somdev said. "I have always been a good competitor. I have been working hard and am in good tennis shape. As for playing doubles, I have no issues at this point but it is not my decision. I am ready to play with anyone if given a chance.

"AITA has not really talked to me about doubles. I have been in touch with AITA about singles."

His comments come against the backdrop of an ugly row surrounding India's participation in the tennis event at the London games. On Wednesday, sources confirmed to CNN-IBN that AITA has ruled out the possibility of sending two teams to London as Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna don't want to partner Leander Paes and the latter doesn't want to play with anyone except Bhupathi or Bopanna.
