CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The Monsoon session of Parliament came to an end on Monday, four days ahead of the schedule.

The session witnessed frequent disruptions and adjournments with the Opposition refusing to let the House function, demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee to look at the nuclear deal.

While adjourning the Lok Sabha sine die, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said it had become impossible to conduct the proceedings.

The Left too had come out with its opposition to the deal and had even charged the prime minister with misleading the country.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, expressed his anguish at MPs' bahaviour inside the house.

CNN-IBN: You are looking emotional. People said you were almost in tears today.

Chatterjee: I am disturbed, unhappy and sorry. I am concerned

CNN-IBN: This is not the first time that unruly scenes have been witnessed in Parliament.

Chatterjee: Should this continue? Is this good for the country? I keep telling this to everyone. May be in the past the situation was worse, but we must try hard to not let it repeat.
