Mumbai: Model-turned-actress Vidya Balan has done only one film but she wants to avoid being typecast as a simple or sexy actress.
Balan made her debut in Bollywood last year with Parineeta, which went on to do well at the box office.
"It's a compliment if people remember my simplicity because that means they liked the simple girl that they saw in Parineeta," Balan told the DNA newspaper.
Balan said that while she was sure she could take on sexy roles as well, she wanted to prove her versatility as an actress.
"But there is a lot between hot-and-sexy and simple, which I also want to explore," she said.
Balan added that she likes doing her own research while preparing for a film like she dropped in to a couple of radio stations for an upcoming movie Munnabhai II.
"I play a radio jockey. I went to a few radio stations to get the feel of what it is like to be an RJ," she said.
