Click to play videoPadma Shri Akshay Kumar is on top of the world. He is used to receiving awards but did not expect this the Padma Shri. CNN-IBN’s Rohit Khilnani caught up with Akshay and asked him how this award will be different from the other film awards that he has received so far.
Rohit Khilnani: Akshay Kumar, you recently gave away an award and said that Aamir Khan deserves it more but God has been kind, and today there is a bigger award for you. So how does it feel being Padma Shri Akshay Kumar?
Akshay Kumar: Every award is big. I believe you get whatever you deserve. I did not believe it initially. When my friends SMSed me I thought they were pulling a fast one on me, but soon I saw it on the channels. I want to thank my audiences and the industry who gave me so much time to work. Today I got this honour thanks to Bollywood's love and support.
Rohit Khilnani: So will this award be placed separately from the other awards?
Akshay Kumar: I haven’t thought about it. There is still some time. I will let you know when I get it (smiles).
Rohit Khilnani: You have come a long. You have worked very hard. Who do you owe this success to?
Akshay Kumar: I owe it to my father and the person who gave me my first break Mr Pramod Chakravarty. I am who I am because of these two individuals.
