Not kingmaker, I want to be king: Kumaraswamy

CNN-IBN

Former Karnataka chief minister and JD(S) candidate from Ramanagaram H D Kumaraswamy's fate will be sealed in Saturday's round of polling. A confident Kumaraswamy says he does not go by pre-poll surveys and is confident his party will win a majority.

CNN-IBN: Old Mysore region was your stronghold last time. What do you think are your chances this time around? Pre-poll surveys don’t indicate a positive picture for you.

Kumaraswamy: Pre-poll surveys confuse people because some media organisations say it’s Congress, some says it’s BJP. They are confused themselves. We are not only going to win more seats in southern Karnataka but also in the entire state.

CNN-IBN: Out of 89 seats, how many do you expect to win?

Kumaraswamy: Out of 89, we hope to win a minimum of 56.

CNN-IBN: What will your margin of victory be?

Kumaraswamy: My margin should be between 40,000 and 50,000.

CNN-IBN: You don’t think Mamatha is a good enough contender?

Kumaraswamy: No I don’t think Congress and BJP are serious contenders for me,

CNN-IBN: Bangalore has become very crucial for Karnataka and JD(S) has not really won in that region.

Kumaraswamy: Last time we scored very poorly. It’ll be a surprise this time. We’ll get 10-12 seats out of the 28.

CNN-IBN: So the battle has officially begun. Are you excited, nervous?

Kumaraswamy: What do you see on my face? I am a totally comfortable person without worries I do my job. Now I will prepare for the seond phase.

CNN-IBN: You say you will get 40 seats, you want to be the kingmaker again?

Kumaraswamy: No, I am not the kingmaker. I want to be the king.
