Priyanka Chopra gets National Award

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was picked up the for National award for her role in Fashion. The film also won the Best Supporting Actress award for Kangana Ranaut.

Best Actor honour went to Upendra Limaye .'Meanwhile, Rock On went on to pick up Best Supporting Actor award for Arjun Rampal and, the best Hindi film honour too. But the best feature film award went to Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's Bengali film Antaheen, while Tamil filmmaker Bala picked up the best director award for Naan Kadavul.

Ace cinematographer V K Murthy was awarded the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award. National Award winner Priyanka Chopra speaks to CNN-IBN and shares more about her movies.

CNN-IBN: Thanks very much for sparing time to speak to us Priyanka, many many congratulations first, this should feel truly special?

Priyanka Chopra: I feel elated. I really don't know what I feel? I can't put word to it. It's huge- you feel like such a small part of something so massive. I was sitting at the Vigyan Bhavan and watching all these people receive the awards from the President Pratibha Patil . She was so gracious and it just felt really humbling and I do feel special.

CNN-IBN: Not just a national honour, but you have had popular awards coming your way. How have you been able to mix it so well?

Priyanka Chopra: I love cinema, everything about it. For me picking a film, I'm like a kid in a toy store when it comes to movies. I am discovering them as I'm doing them, my acting course or acting school has been my career. So I mean I'm discovering it as I go along. I think that's why I'm mixing it up so much. I'm doing all kinds of cinema and all kinds of different genre.

CNN-IBN: It just seems you have been on a roll since Fashion, Kaminey and Dostana etc. Again a mix of serious, simple, girl next door, stunning characters performed with so much ease. Do you believe this period has been one of ur best, professionally?

Priyanka Chopra: I'm hoping that it probably will get better because I'm picking and doing some fabulous films right now. I have taken on some very interesting parts. So I'm hoping it will just keep getting better.

CNN-IBN: Of course, we are going to see you on fear factor on our sister channel, with ten cricketers doing stunts? I want to know how they convinced you?

Priyanka Chopra: They didn't really need much convincing actually. I was very surprised. Fear factor is something which is something so up my alley. Khatron ke Khiladi it just seems a perfect fix for me. My TV debut seems ideal with Khatron ke Khiladi 3. It's something that I would do. I am a very adventurous sort of person. I like taking on things which normally I would not be able to do. And that is what compels me to come on to the show. Also the fact that I'am a big fan of Fear Factor. It's a very unique show. It caters to a range of an audience, from kids to older people, everybody in the family.

CNN-IBN:Do you have any plans of doing the stunts yourself?

Priyanka Chopra: Yes, I'll be doing the stunts myself. I have no plans and I just want to go there have a great time.

CNN-IBN: Who are the cricketers you look forward to?

Priyanka Chopra: We are still not sure who all the cricketers are, Colors is in d process of signing them rite now. As soon as the list is out, I'am gonna pick my favourite.

CNN-IBN: I'am sure you have a busy evening ahead. I saw how you tweeted about chatting with your family for hours when news of the National Awards came in. Is there more family celebration tonight after this award?

Priyanka Chopra: Yes, my entire family is here. I am a Chopra, so we keep up the Punjabi tradition. We are going to have a big family reunion where I am going to meet my entire family and hang up. So I'm very excited.
