New Delhi: India's chances of making it to the final of the Champions Challenge Cup in Belgium have all but evaporated after they were beaten 2-1 by Argentina in their fourth game on Thursday.
After a goalless first half, Argentina took the lead in the 39th minute, with Jorge Lombi converting a penalty corner to give the South Americans the lead.
Maria Almada doubled that advantage in the 61st minute with a field goal.
Although India got back into the game with a penalty stroke through Sandeep Singh six minutes from time, it was too late.
India will now play Japan in their final and must-win fixture of the tournament, but will also depend on the results from other games for their fate in the tournament.
