New Delhi: Asserting that he had warned the Uttar Pradesh government on reports of escalating communal disturbances in the state, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said, "IB has giving information to 11 states that there is likely to be communal disturbances. I spoke to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and told him that tension is rising and arrangements need to be made. He said he would."
Shinde said, "The number of cases of communal disturbances have increased in Uttar Pradesh in 2013."
"As elections approach, I had already assessed that there would be an increase in communal disturbances," Shinde said.
"We have alerted CRPF and paramilitary forces. And also we had told the state that they can ask for help if needed. Army has also been send. Now both Army and paramilitary forces are active there," Shinde added.
