I have an open mind about extraditing terrorists: Gillani

CNN-IBN

Pakistan PM Yousuf Raza Gillani has said that he would stand by slain PPP chief Benazir Bhutto's assurances to India on extraditing criminals like Dawood Ibrahim, as long as India could provide proof.

Following are excerpts from the interview:

Yousuf Raza Gillani: If there are authentic proofs and if they (India) want to share it with us, of course we can think on those lines.

Karan Thapar: So the onus of providing proof is on India?

Yousuf Raza Gillani: Exactly.

Karan Thapar: The third assurance that Benazir Bhutto gave was that if India were to seek the extradition of Dawood Ibrahim – who even the Americans consider a terrorist - her government would not stand in the way. Will you stand by that commitment?

Yousuf Raza Gillani: Because I have not studied that, I have to be briefed about that. In random I can't say anything.

Karan Thapar: But you have an open mind?

Yousuf Raza Gillani: Yes, I have an open mind.

Karan Thapar: If there is a good case you will happily extradite Dawood Ibrahim?

Yousuf Raza Gillani: If....again the onus is on your side.
