After dancing away in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Lara Dutta is all set to hit off with Salman Khan and Govinda in the next comedy caper Partner. CNN-IBN caught up with the actress and chatted about her new film.
Varsha Pillai: So is this your second coming in the industry?
Lara Dutta: Yes, in some sort of a way, I think it is.
Varsha Pillai: You have received your best reviews for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. However, did it dampen your spirits that the film didn’t do that well in the Box Office?
Lara Dutta: Any film regardless of what the film is, and if the film is your’s, then you want the film to do well. It was disappointing that but I got away unscathed. I rather appreciate it and I wish that it could have translated with the rest of my co-stars and the film on the whole as well.
Varsha Pillai: What is the best compliment that you received for Jhoom Barabar Jhoom?
Lara Dutta: I walked as a Lara Dutta that people have seen on screen before but after doing the first screening in the film, people that I have worked with for four years in the industry, stood outside the theatre and clapped for me as I walked out. People viewed me in a completely different light. I was finally viewed as an actor rather than just another pretty, glamorous face. It was sort of career-changing for me.
Varsha Pillai: Are you bothered about the rumours that are going around about your split with Kelly (Dorje)?
Lara Dutta: I am not bothered about them at all.
Varsha Pillai: What do you have to say about the speculations that happens?
Lara Dutta: I have absolutely nothing say. I do not add to speculation neither do I encourage it.
Varsha Pillai: The promos of the film Partner seems like a blast. Was it a blast shooting?
Lara Dutta: It was a blast. Working on Partner didn’t feel like working for a single day. There was a lot of spontaneity and ‘ourselves’ that we brought to the characters that we were playing on screen, It was just a big party at work.
