Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has once again said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government is not being run by Manmohan Singh and accused it of being soft on many issues. In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN Chief Political Correspondent Pallavi Ghosh, Modi clarified that he has never targeted any individual during his speeches.
Pallavi Ghosh: Do you think somewhere the strong retaliation that came from Dr Manmohan Singh came as a surprise to the BJP? Were you a bit surprised?
Narendra Modi: The Prime Minister had to say it because it is like a homeopathic pill. Initially a homeopathic pill increases the pain. Congress was rattled after the BJP set the agenda. So they had to do all this artificially but it has not worked. I challenge him to prove that his government is strong. Taliban is targeting Sikhs in Pakistan. They are levying jazia from Sikhs. If Congress claims the government is strong then it should tell the country what it has done. Gujarat Assembly has passed the GUJCOCA bill thrice to deal with terrorism and we have sent it thrice to Delhi. But till now they have neither Okayed the bill nor rejected it. I have met him 10 times on this issue. Advaniji also met him. Whenever he meets he says Modiji I have given my consent. This means that if the Prime Minister says he has given his nod and then also the work is not being done than the reigns of the government is in some one else's hand.
Pallavi Ghosh: Priyanka has asked people in Amethi if she looks like an old woman?
Narendra Modi: How can I answer this question? Either the people of Amethi will answer it or Sonia's daughter will.
Pallavi Ghosh: What do you find objectionable in their politics?
Narendra Modi: It is not my job. I discuss about Congress as it is fighting elections. I have never talked about any family.
Pallavi Ghosh: You have called the Prime Minister the most weak Prime Minister. But at the personal level the impression is that you don't find him objectionable. But sometimes like you talked about the fish in aquarium about Rahul Gandhi...
Narendra Modi: You have raked up a good topic. You must be in possession of my speech. I can even show the video. Can anyone point out if I have taken any names?
Pallavi Ghosh: In every meeting Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi talk about Kandahar. They say the BJP should prove how they are strong?
Narendra Modi: Atal Bihari Vajpayee had called an all-party meeting. Why were the Congress people silent at that point of time? They could have said that let the people inside the plane die. Why did they not say it? Are they willing to say even today that they would have allowed the passengers to die in Kandahar?
Pallavi Ghosh: In Ahmedabad there are posters where the photos of Advaniji are smaller as compared to your photos. The sense is that there is a division within the BJP as every leader is saying something different?
Narendra Modi: If there is any mistake then we will rectify it.
Pallavi Ghosh: Do you think it is a mistake or a personal achievement?
Narendra Modi: I admit that it is a mistake. I thank you for drawing my attention to this mistake. I am thankful to the media and we will correct it.
