Mumbai: Sculpted body is a fad in filmdom and most of the top-notch actors sport six or eight-pack abs, but Anil Kapoor says he focuses on being fit and tries to maintain his weight.
"I never wanted to make muscles, I just want to be fit. Everyone has different ways of staying fit. Mine is that I should feel good. I have been exercising for the last 15-20 years. I feel comfortable the way I am. My weight has been between 74-76 kilos since the last so many years," Anil, 52, told reporters Tuesday at the launch of Sanjeev Chadha's 'The Red Gym'.
"It is very important to have a good physique. Health helps you in every sphere of life. During 24 hours, you use your body for everything. You work with your body, study, and everything else. So it's your duty to pamper your body at least for an hour everyday. Exercise gives me energy to work for rest of the day. When I don't exercise, I don't feel good the entire day," he added.
Even at this stage Anil is able to carry action scenes convincingly and after recently released action-thriller 'Tezz', he will be seen in Sanjay Gupta's 'Shootout At Vadala'.
"People tell me that I look much better and fitter now. I am trying my best to do this. I focus on keeping my mind fit, then food and exercise," he said.
'Shootout At Wadala' is the screen adaptation of the first-ever registered encounter by Mumbai police, where gangster Manya Surve was shot dead in 1982. John Abraham plays Manya Surve, while Anil will be seen as ACP Isaque Bagwan in the movie.
When asked about his character in 'Shootout At Wadala', he said: "For the first time in my career, I am playing a real life character. I have met him (the officer) personally and spoke to him on phone also. He was a very powerful inspector. When we come closer to the release, I shall tell you more."
