The cell was like 8-by-12: Paris Hilton

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Paris Hilton walked to freedom after 23 days in jail. Known for her wild partying ways, the hotel heiress was sentenced in May to 45 days for violating her probation for an earlier incident of reckless driving.

In an exclusive interview to CNN's Larry King — the first since her release — Paris Hilton insists that she isn’t the one inviting the media.

Larry King: What do you think it is about you, Paris, that everybody follows you around? You must have examined this in your life. Why do people, photographers, paparazzi, why you?

Paris Hilton:: I have no idea. I'm just living my life.

Larry King: You don't call them up and say I'm going down to Third Street tomorrow. Be there.

Paris Hilton:: No. Actually from the moment I wake up to when I go to sleep they're outside my house following me all day long.

Hilton shot to fame when she began modeling at 19, with Donald Trump's modeling agency. In 2001, she was popularly known as a socialite. Her notoriety only grew with the release of a three-year-old homemade sex video with her then-boyfriend Rick Solomon in 2003.

Her inheritance from her great-grandfather, who founded the Hilton Hotels, is valued between $30 and $50 million.

Her 23-day-long confinement may be the longest she's stayed away from the life of comfort she was born into.

Larry King: How well were you treated?

Paris Hilton:: I went up to L.A. County. All the sheriffs there were very professional. I was treated like any other inmate, no better, no worse.

Larry King: You were in confinement 23 hours a day?

Paris Hilton:: Yeah. It was pretty difficult, just — the cell was like eight-by-12. So I was alone the entire time.

Larry King: What have the last two days been like?

Paris Hilton:: Some days overwhelming. You know, I've been confined for three-and-a-half weeks in a little cell so it's just overwhelming to be out and be free again.

But with freedom comes a price. With the media monitoring her every move more than ever, will Hilton ever be able to live a simple life? And more importantly, does she even want to?
