Washington: Author Salman Rushdie’s estranged wife Padma Lakshmi has denied rumours that the couple’s marriage fell apart because she had an affair.
The host of the hit US reality show, ‘Top Chef’, filed for divorce in July this year – three years after tying the knot with the famous author.
Since then, rumours have been abuzz that the split was caused because Lakshmi cheated on Rushdie with Princess Diana’s former suitor Ted Forstmann.
However, Lakshmi insists to Vanity Fair magazine that she was never unfaithful.
"What can I say? Salman is the greatest love of my life. We really tried to work it out. I wish I could tell you exactly why (it ended), but there was no 'That's it' moment," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling the magazine.
"It was just like slowly getting very hard. There was no third party. I wasn't mean to his kids. There was no, like, infidelity."
However, a source tells the magazine that Lakshmi and Frostmann are involved.
"(Lakshmi and Forstmann) are an item. They're dating," the source told the magazine.
