New Delhi: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Friday held a technical briefing for its 144 members at the secretariat in Vienna.
The members were briefed about the technical aspects of the India specific safeguards agreement. After the briefing, US Ambassador to the IAEA said that he was positive that the IAEA governors would approve the agreement on August 1.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice also said she was equally confident about the deal. She said, "The deal has received the support of IAEA Chief Mohamed El Baradei because India has a very good record on proliferation."
“It is certainly our hope that we can get this done in the Congress and we are expeditiously working towards that goal,” she added.
