New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has barred Indian PSUs like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from taking part in the $3 billion aircraft deal. The IAF has shortlisted five foreign aircraft firms to buy 56 new aircraft.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Praful Patel has written to Defence Minster AK Antony seeking why Indian PSUs have been barred from taking part in the deal. Patel has said that the Indian PSUs have infrastructure and capacity to execute the deal.
The IAF wants to replace its Avro aircraft and induct 56 new aircraft.
