Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has shifted a top IAS officer from his post after a fashion show was held at his official bungalow.

The show was organised by Asma Hussain, wife of UP’s Agricultural Production Commissioner Anis Ansari, and was attended by wives of other bureaucrats, including the state Chief Secretary's wife who was the judge at the informal do.

Lucknow District Magistrate's wife even took to the ramp along with children of few bureaucrats. The theme was 19th century London in 21st century Lucknow and the colour code was pink.

While the state government has sought an explanation from the officer, Asma – a professional designer - told CNN-IBN that the fashion show was only a part of a private party.

The IAS officer's wife says these kinds of parties are regular in the bureaucratic circles.

"This was a part of the event. All family members participated in the show. I am the vice-president of IAS wife association and it was my turn to host the party,” she says.

Asma also told CNN-IBN said she had invited the media to get Page-3 publicity. Well, she did get attention, but on page one, and for all the wrong reasons.
