IAS officer held for allegedly taking a bribe

Shimla: State vigilance and the anti-corruption bureau on Thursday nabbed senior IAS officer Sanjay Gupta, and another unnamed official of General Industries Corporation with Rs 2 lakh at Parwanoo.

A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the two at the Vigilance and Anti Corruption police station in Solan.

IG Vigilance S R Mardi confirmed the news saying they had been arrested, but refused to say more.

Police officials are tight-lipped about the investigation, saying that the investigation was going on and details would be only disclosed after it was completed.

Following the registration of a case, the officials were arrested on Thursday evening after the case was registered as the was not a cognizable one.

Sources said that the officials were nabbed in relation to a liquor manufacturing unit at Parwanoo, which is run by General Industries Corporation, a government company. The other person nabbed is a official working at the liquor unit.

The police is looking for the liquor unit and are questing connected people.
