IB officer likely to head anti- terror body

Srinagar: Nechal Sindhu, a special director in the Intelligence Bureau, is tipped to head the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India, informed sources said here Thursday night.

Sindhu, an Indian Police Service officer of the 1973 batch of Bihar cadre, could take over as chief of the NIA anytime soon, the sources told IANS.

The NIA is being set up in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks to probe terrorism, counterfeit currency and drug trafficking across the country.
