Mumbai: Many of you might be carrying the national flag as India entered it's 60th year of independence. But did you ever think of the children at the traffic lights who sold you these mementos?

Rajeev Bhimrao Pawar, 12-year-old, sells flags for six days every year all to ensure that he has a meal atleast once a day.

"I sell these flags every republic and independence day. If there are any left, I save it for the next year, that way I can save some money," Rajeev Bhimarao Pawar says.

Every Independence and Republic day, sticking, putting together and selling the Tricolours is a ritual for Rajeev’s family of seven.

While Rajeev and his siblings make their way through winding traffic ensuring that each of them are sold-out.

"We have come all the way from Solapur because there's now work there. Here in Mumbai at least we won't have to starve," Rajeev's Father, Bhimrao Mallappa Pawar says.
