New Delhi: Missed watching Rakhi Sawant's antics on 2007's reality hit Big Boss? Wondering if could gift your mother a hundred episodes of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi without a single ad break this Mother's Day? Well, IPTV or interactive TV is your answer to all your tele dreams.

The platform may not have taken off in India yet but the Information and Broadcasting Ministry is working overtime to ensure that you are able to access interactive TV right on your computer soon.

The bottlenecks have been cleared and come April your cable operator or your telecom operator will be able to provide you the IPTV service.

The technology will give you the option of pausing live TV, even time-shifted TV which means if you wish to watch India at 9 at 10 you simply need to put the timer on. What’s more IPTV will offer you more than 300 films to choose from.

That’s not all, the term couch potato will soon be a relic of the past because 2007 will see the launch of mobile TV.

According to reports, handsets capable of carrying broadcast material are already being manufactured by Nokia.

Bids for license to provide the service will be invited from the second half of this year and the service itself could be made available in the latter part of 2008.

Whoever said consumer is king knew what he was talking about!
