Actress Priyanka Chopra has some exciting movies lined up including the superhero film Drona. CNN-IBN Entertainment Editor Rajeev Masand chats her up on movies and more.

Rajeev Masand: Give me one film in the recent past that made you wish you were in it?

Priyanka Chopra: Rang De Basanti. I loved that film. I don’t know which part, probably Aamir Khan’s part or even Sidharth’s or Kunal’s part for that matter, or even Soha. Anyone’s part in the film, actually. Each character was etched out so well. That film really affected me. I came out feeling so patriotic. I said, ‘I’m going to change India, yeh dil hai Hindustani’, and all of that happened to me. It was great.

Rajeev Masand: These days you are shooting for a film called Drona, which is a superhero film with Abhishek playing the title role. You play his bodyguard. That’s odd isn’t it?

Priyanka Chopra: I don’t think it is odd. It’s different and that’s what’s exciting. He plays this character who doesn’t know he has the potential t be superhero, it’s thrust upon him. I was brought up, ever since I was a child, to protect him. My life revolves around him and he plays this nerd from school and I’m disgusted that he’s the one I have to protect and I have to keep saving his life when it should be the other way around.

Rajeev Masand: So is he a bit of a sissy or you’re a tough chick?

Priyanka Chopra: A little bit of both actually. The film ends in a very different way. It’s a fantasy film so it has a bit magic and mythology.

Rajeev Masand: Apparently you learnt some traditional form of martial arts for it?

Priyanka Chopra: Yes, it’s called katka, it’s a sikh form of martial art where you fight with swords and with a defense mechanism which is very rooted. It looks quite spectacular.

Rajeev Masand: It’s not the first time you have had physical training for a role right? You did it for Don and Krrish too?

Priyanka Chopra: What I like is to know what I’m getting into before I reach the set. I don’t like to get there and say ‘Oh I can’t do that’. I like to be prepared and that makes filmmaking so much more fun.
