Mumbai: Members of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Advisory Board declared on Wednesday evening that Toronto in Canada will be the venue for the awards weekend in 2011.
Joined by actors Vivek Oberoi, Celina Jaitely and Ramesh Sippy, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty announced in Mumbai that IIFA will be held in greater Toronto from June 16-19 in 2011.
Even though the brand ambassador of IIFA Amitabh Bachchan was conspicuous by his absence, he did send a message.
He said, “Toronto is a city of diverse and various cultures, it offers a great experience. I'm extremely excited that the North American premier of the IIFA weekend of 2011 will be held in Ontario.”
“IIFA celebration in Toronto in 2011 will be an absolutely great way to connect with the people there,” actress Priyanka Chopra said.
While the organisers have kept everyone guessing about the location of the 2010 IIFA, the buzz is that it might be Abu Dhabi or Seoul.
We will keep you posted about that, so for more action on IIFA watch this space.
