New Delhi: So, you always dreamt of studying at the Indian Institute of Management? Now you don't have to dream about going there. That's because the prestigious business school is coming close to you.
A course at IIM-Ahmedabad is as close as your nearest NIIT centre.
The computer training institute and the premier management college have entered into an alliance.
IIM-A will design the course and NIIT will provide technology for getting it to students across cities and all classes will be conducted on weekends.
This news has already brought a smile on the faces of many MBA asiprants who always wanted to study at IIM Ahmedabad, but could never break away from work.
"I couldnt have left my job and gone to get a degree to Ahmedabad and also I couldnt have settled away from home," a marketing executive, Amit Kumar, says.
Even NIIT's CEO Vijay Thadani says he would want to be a student, all over again.
"I couldn't make it to IIM, will definitely enroll myselfnow. I'm very excited about it," says Thadani.
But what exactly will the course be like?
"It will be an equivalent of full time programme without being on campus," Director, IIM-A, Bakul Dholakia says.
On offer are two programmes.A six-month General Management programme that'll cost Rs 1,80,000 and a four-month Strategic Business Communication programme that's cheaper at Rs 50,000.
The eligibility criteria for the two programmes is a minimum of six years and five years work experience respectively and a qualifiying entrance test.
