Ahmedabad: IIM-Ahmedabad is all set to hire big names from Bollywood for their post-graduate programme to teach management students.
From December 2008, the institute will offer an elective course Contemporary Film Industry: A Business Perspective.
"Nobody was studying films. It’s something that everybody likes. That's when I thought, let’s offer a course on the film industry,” says IIM-A faculty Prof Tejas Desai.
IIM-A says the course is important because the industry is getting more professional with major corporates coming into picture.
They have already invited film makers Sanjay Ghadvi, Madhur Bhandarkar and Mahesh Bhatt among others.
The students are excited. "If through this course we can be part of the film industry, it’s big. The industry is full of glamour. It could be interesting to look at it as a career option,” says a student Akshay Iyer.
Actors too would be among the guest faculty. The biggest name on the list is Aamir Khan.
"I have met Aamir Khan and he has expressed his strong desire to come here. I've reserved the entire last week of February for him,” says Prof Desai.
After Prof Lalu Prasad Yadav and Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, it’s perhaps time for students to welcome Professor Amir Khan at the IIM-A
