IIM-B says quota not possible now

Bangalore: As per the Human Resource Development Ministry's directive, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, is required to implement 27 per cent quota for OBCs within a duration of one year.

Ruling out the possibility, IIM-B Director Prakash G Apte on Wednesday said a "minimum of three years" or probably four years were needed for the implementation.

"One year, we cannot simply do it. It cannot be done," Apte said after a meeting of the Board of Governors.

"It has to be staggered over a minimum period of three years or probably four years," he added. He, however, made it clear that the meeting did not discuss the quota issue on Wednesday.
