After a refreshing performance in the 2007 blockbuster Jab We Met, media-shy actor Shahid Kapur made his first public appearance this year for the launch of a style magazine.

While speaking to CNN-IBN the actor said that despite his rather public break-up with Kareena Kapoor, Shahid is still open to dating within the film industry.

CNN-IBN: We are seeing you after such a long time, where have you been?

Shahid Kapur: Yes, that is what a lot of people have been saying. I hardly go out and yes, I am quite a boring guy.

CNN-IBN: Jab We Met was your last movie which was a big hit and a lot had been written about it. What did you take away from the movie?

Shahid Kapur: A lot of things were said before the film released and there was also a lot of speculation on whether the film would do well because of various reasons. But if you make a good film then it would always do well. And that is what eventually happened.

CNN-IBN: Do you prepare a lot for your roles or are you instinctive on the sets?

Shahid Kapur: In Jab We Met the protagonist had a lot of baggage before the film started so I had to spend a little time with the character to try and figure out what is it that kept him so quiet because that is not how I am.

CNN-IBN: You don’t have any baggages?

Shahid Kapur: We all have baggages, don’t we? (laughs) But I am not as depressed as Aditya, I am quite happy actually.

CNN-IBN: You look happy and that is a good thing. What are your future projects?

Shahid Kapur: My next release is Kismat Konnection which has been directed by Aziz Mirza. It’s a romantic comedy and I am very excited about it because it has turned out quite well. It stars me and Vidya Balan and we had good fun shooting the film. I hope people will like the film too.

CNN-IBN: Okay, we will not ask you if you are single or not but let’s find out what’s your kind of girl?

Shahid Kapur: The most important thing for me, being an actor and being in this field, is that I am whoever I am and I should be someone who believes in this. I think when someone meets me the person should like me for what I am.

CNN-IBN: Would you ever date someone from the film industry?

Shahid Kapur: Ya…I am from the film industry, so I can’t have issues about that.
