New Delhi: After being showered with lucrative film and television offers, actress Shilpa Shetty has finally had the time to turn her attention to her love life, saying she is now ready for a boyfriend.
"I'm single and ready to mingle!" Bollywood's long-legged beauty said in an interview to the Daily Mirror as she confessing to having not dated anyone for 18 months.
After much drama, some chicken curry and a raging debate on racism, Shilpa has emerged a bigger celebrity from UK reality show Big Brother, than she was when it started three weeks ago. She has extended her stay in Britain, as her mother Sunanda is keen on looking for a match for her.
But potential suitors are likely to be grilled by her businessman father Surendra, she said.
"If a guy wants to take me out, he must seek my dad's permission first. That's just the way it works. I secretly brief them about the best answers to give to my father's questions before they face him," the 31-year-old actress said in the interview.
But the actress says an arranged marriage will not do for her. “I want to fall madly in love with someone and be whisked off my feet,” she was quoted as saying.
Shilpa admitted that lately her parents had been putting pressure on her to marry, since it was relatively old to be single at 31. But she added that she wouldn’t want to marry just because of her age, since too many people made that mistake.
And just what does it cost to be Shilpa’s suitor? "I'm a pretty low maintenance girlfriend - all I ask is that he buys me lots of diamonds!" PTI quoted her as saying. She does not want a big wedding and would "like a giant sparkling ring, but the event could be quite small."
