Impact: Bangalore hospital treats child for free

New Delhi: There's more help pouring in for 8 year old Meeta. After the Apollo Hospital Chennai, it’s now Narayana Hrudayalaya Bangalore that's ready to perform the complicated heart surgery for her free of cost.

Mita suffers from a complicated ventricular septor defect. On Thursday, CNN-IBN showed 8-year girl’s family in Kolkata that is not able to afford her treatment. Now the parents have a reason to smile. Their eight year old daughter will undergo a heart surgery free of cost at Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore.

“We are very happy that they are helping us get the free treatment,” said Debu Mondal, a teas stall owner and Mita’s father.

The child has more than two holes in her heart and even a minor complication can kill her. After CNN-IBN highlighted Mita's plight, Chennai's Apollo Hospital emerged as a good samaritan, offering to treat her free of cost

Dr Debi Shetty of Narayana Hrudayalaya is already supervising her treatment and will conduct the operation in Bangalore, along with Doctor Kunal Sarkar of RN Tagore cardiac Institute, Kolkata.

“We will make this mission possible. Let us hope that with the blessings of god, all goes well Dr Kunal Sarkar, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, RNTICI

If all goes well, Mita will indeed get to run around and go to school just like other kids.
