New Delhi: The Agriculture Minister of Bihar, Narendra Singh was caught on video pushing aside a woman as she begged the minister for job for her son.
Singh was visiting the Rajendra Agriculture College in Sabaur near Bhagalapur to inaugurate a mango exhibition when Akelo Devi pleaded him to give his husband’s job to his son on compassionate grounds. Devi says her husband was a driver at the college.
Since Akelo Devi didn’t enough money to go to Patna she thought the Minister’s visit to Bhagalpur would be good opportunity to approach him.
However, Singh got impatient and shoved her away in rage when she approached him. He didn't even realise that her arm was in a cast.
“When I went to meet the minister for my son's job, he pushed me aside and asked me to go away,” says Akelo Devi.
The minister however, told CNN-IBN that he did not really have the intention to hurt the woman. He said that his rivals might be trying to malign him regarding the case.
“If the people and the widow feel that I pushed her then I apologise for this,” says Singh.
The incident seems to have embarrassed the Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar who has ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked the state Chief Secretary to ensure that Akelo Devi’s son got a job at the earliest.
