New Delhi: After four-year long silence over an alleged molestation case of a minor girl by the brother in law of Ramachandrapura Mutt Swamy, the political leaders in Karnataka have finally taken note of it.
After CNN-IBN aired the plight of a poor minor girl at the hands of powerful people in chief minister' B S Yeddyurappa’s home district of Shimoga on Friday, both the ruling BJP and opposition have reacted sharply.
B S Yeddyurappa, who landed in New Delhi on Saturday night, has assured of action against Jagadish Sharma, brother in law of pontiff Raghaveshwara Bharti half heartedly.
Yeddyurappa said, "I need not re-instruct, according to rules and regulations, according to law, they will take action.”
Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda described it as heinous crime and demanded the dismissal of BJP government for the lawlessness in the state.
“The Congress has their own agencies to get all information, how this government is functioning. Law and order is not an issue to be enforced.” Said Gowda.
Former chief minister S Bangarappa said, "This swamy is a pucca BJP swamy. He is a criminal. “
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Shimoga, S Murugan has sent a detailed clarification to CNN-IBN. In his letter he has assured that the police would handle this case with utmost seriousness. Civil right activists in Karnataka are now planning to approach High Court demanding a CBI probe.
