Kolkata: Last week CNN-IBN reported the story of Sourav - the class 12 topper who is also a newspaper vendor.
After watching Saurav’s story on the channel, a viewer has come forward to fund his higher education.
15-year-old Sourav Bodak scored 92.4 per cent in his class XII board exams this year.
But he isn’t just another student scoring a high percentage - Saurav fought against all odds to achieve this.
Sourav begins his day at five in the morning distributing newspapers to 100-odd households – he uses the money to pay his school fees.
After hearing his story on CNN-IBN, a viewer has come forward to fund his education till Saurav completes his engineering degree and needless to say, Saurav is very happy.
"Yes, this news takes load off my shoulder, buy since so many people are encouraging me to move ahead, I feel I now have the added responsibility of performing better in my class XII and engineering entrance exams," says he says.
Sourav's school teachers were motivated seeing his determination they took extra classes for him before the exams, and most of them didn't take money from him. And now Saurav has yet another supporter egging him on.
Sourav found his good Samaritan within two days of his story being reported on CNN-IBN, which he is very thankful about.
