Impact: Officials promise action

Mumbai: With Mumbai getting ready for the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls scheduled for February 1, CNN-IBN's Special Investigation Team went undercover to see how the polls were rigged.

And what the team found was that it’s the local dada (goon) and loads of money that actually hold the key to the local votes.

Soon after that investigation was telecast, the Maharashtra state election commissioner Nand Lal has promised immediate action against anyone trying to purchase votes.

“We want free and fair elections so if you have any evidence about person rigging polls. I request you to tell the police commissioner and give him evidence. We'll take immediate action,” he said.
