Impact: Subba story stuns BJP | SIT

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: A day after CNN-IBN exposed the dubious antecedents of Lok Sabha MP from Tezpur, Assam Moni Kumar Subba, political circles are abuzz.

Subba, a Congress MP, is allegedly a Nepali national and has lied about his age, education and place of birth to Parliament.

“We are supreme. I have been an MLA from Assam twice and then an MP and you are talking of citizenship,” Subba told CNN-IBN’s Special Investigation Team on a hidden camera when apprehended with the facts.

It is this bravado that has incensed Opposition BJP and the party is all set to raise the issue in Parliament.

"In light of the present provisions, he must be sacked. We will raise it in Parliament,” said BJP leader, Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Congress too admitted that the CBI hasn't done its job of carrying out proper investigations into the case the verdict on which is still pending in Supreme Court.

The CBI, after a “thorough probe”, had given Subba a clean chit earlier, citing lack of evidence.

"The CBI must be pulled up for this kind of shoddy job,” said Congress leader, RK Anand.

The Central Government is supposed to file a reply in the apex court about Subba's nationality by the coming weekend.

However, in light of all the damning evidence, curtains might fall on the political career based on a web of lies for MK Subba.
