Imran looks like Brando, says Kidnap director

Mumbai: After his chocolate boy act in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan plays a vicious kidnapper in his forthcoming film Kidnap. And Imran says has relived his childhood fascination for knives in the film.

"You know, when you are boarding school, in a boy's hostel you find the most stupid of things to do - like who can eat as many boiled eggs. You get really bored. The school gets over at 4 pm. I picked up this knife habit in school after I saw the movie Alien. All the boys thought that it was really cool. I became very good at it eventually. I got hurt a lot. Both my hands are full of scars. So when I read that in the script, I told Sanjay Dutt that I am very good at that and he said, you don't have to be good at it, you have to hurt Minnisha's fingers," he said.

And Minissha Lamba, who is also in the film, gives testament to the fact that Imran is very good in the film.

"I believe the general public would like loved to get kidnapped by him, but in the film I hate him. He is my kidnapper and he keeps me against my will. I do make him run a lot for his money. When he goes out, he is fighting with Sanjay and when he comes back, he has me to deal with," says she.

Director Sanjay Gadhvi, who has previously made the highly-stylised Dhoom series, can't stop raving about his cast.

"The first casting was of Sanjay Dutt and if Sanjay Dutt says no to a film, the film cannot be made. He said yes not once, but twice. Then I wanted to cast a boy across Sanjay Dutt because I was very clear that it had to be a man versus boy story. Imran's face is very interesting. Many girls won't like it but I didn't find him dead drop gorgeous. He reminded me of Marlin Brando in The Waterfront. He has very expressive eyes, plus his entire demeanour is different. Also, he is a very unusual kind of guy, so that's what I liked about him."

Audiences are hoping Kidnap manages to create soom dhoom at the box-office.
