Patna: Bihar MLA Rajen Tiwari has just had a haircut and that’s surprising because as an accused facing trial at the Beur central jail of Patna, he not supposed to be here.
Tiwari has a free run in the jail and outside, with the knowledge of jail authorities.
The police are at the beck and call of don-turned-politician Tiwari, who is facing charges of murder and extortion. And when he demands mineral water, he gets it.
“If you ask specifically discrimination is also rampant in jail,” says Chief Minister Nitish Kumar when informed about the incident.
The government has ordered a high-level probe and five policemen have been suspended.
But incidents like these are common in Bihar. Earlier, the Supreme Court had pulled up the authorities after another politician facing charges, Pappu Yadav, threw a party inside the prison premises.
