Surat: It's a T-shirt with a message. After a poster which had Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi sitting atop a horse on the battlefield with sudarshan chakra in hand, Modi is replacing Lord Krishna once more, this time on Janmashtami, on the t-shirts of govindas (krishna devotees), in Gujarat.
“People asked us to put Modi's picture in the front. He's near our hearts,” said Vice President, Govinda Utsava Samiti, Surat, Ganesh Sawant.
The Gujarat Chief Minister's smile has already made it to health kits and biscuit packets ahead of the elections due later this year.
And predictably, not everyone is rushing out to buy the new Modi merchandise.
“How can Modi replace a God? Hindus will not like it,” said Convenor, Sardar Patel Utkarsh Samiti, Vasant Gajera.
The BJP central leadership pulled up Modi after his poster pose recently. So it's quite likely that Modi's new avatar could land him in further trouble.
