In laws held for trying to burn woman alive over dowry

New Delhi: A woman was set on fire by her in-laws in Raipur, Chattisgarh as her parents allegedly failed to fulfill dowry demands.

After recuperating in the hospital for two-and-a-half months, when she returned home, her in-laws made yet another plan to kill her.

This time they kept her on a daily dose of sleeping pills for months. A case of dowry harassment has been registered against the in laws.

Crime against women has been on the rise in the last few months.

A few days ago, a ten-year-old girl in Mumbai was eve-teased and in the process run over by the SUV the men who were attempting to trouble her were driving.

Asma now lies in a hospital in agony with fractured ribs, a broken hip and back after escaping a shocking eve-teasing attempt.

Meanwhile, in New Delhi's C R Park area, a 17-year-old domestic help was made to strip and perform unnatural sex with her employer for more than a year.

There have also been reports of a seven-year-old student in Chennai who was allegedly raped by a school employee at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Ashok Nagar.
