New Delhi: India's lost the World Cup and it's time to move on to greener pastures. For all those who would like to see something wild and and wacky after the boring matches, the hairiest competition in the world is the right thing to see.
Two hundred of the Europe's best groomed beards and mustaches went on display at the International German Beard Championship in the southern German village of Schoemberg on March 24, 2007.
Some of the whiskers were extravagant, some elaborately-groomed and flashy and others were plain wild and wacky. The beards were preened, the mustaches waxed and curled and all contestants were eager to show that they had the best facial hair in the world.
The competition had sixteen categories of beards, the most popular one being freestyle because it sets no limits on creativity. There were bushy windmills, gelled chin beards, Chinese drooping mustaches, whiskers and styled full beards.
The Germans are renowned for being the among world's best beard growers.
